Context and Challenges

One client had demands for optimization projects on several sites that were not being met, and that needed to be executed in a short period of time. To meet them, an optimization office was structured: together with the client, our team prioritized the initiatives according to the potential return and executed the projects. The delivery involved challenges such as.

  1. Execute 14 projects in six months
  2. Revitalize 3 expert systems
  3. Make an MPC project for flotation

Solutions Used and Equipment Provided

To prioritize the initiatives, a team was assembled with experts from the client and ihm, assessing the potential return of each initiative and the expected impact on the process. The projects were then passed on to ihm's optimization team.

For the optimization of the regulatory control of the plant was used the ihm Loop, which monitored the performance of the control loops, indicating the main opportunities for improvement and helping in the diagnosis of problems.

The advanced control systems were developed using several tools (ihm Nebuluz, Aspen DMC3Plus, Metso OCS and CEMI OptProcess) and the ihm systemic modeling methodology.
